Take That: 'Shine'

Take That have made their comeback, and by god, hasn't it been triumphant? From number one single to number one album, from sell-out tour to Brits nomination, the four band members can't possibly have imagined this level of success when they first decided to come back. Perhaps they hoped for a top twenty single based on nostalgia, or that they might shove a couple of albums out before the music industry got tired of the idea of it all and sent them packing. Admittedly, Take That were huge back in the day, but as the less successful comebacks of other artists have shown, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll hit the stop when you 'try, try again'.
'Shine' is a song that shows the rest of the music industry exactly what they've been missing while Take That took time out. It's one of the few up-beat numbers on number one album Beautiful World, which, admittedly, could have done with a few bits and bobs more reminiscent of the Take That we know and (mostly) love, and it's totally fantastic. A cross between The Beatles at their peak, ELO's best material and Scissor Sisters toned down (but only slightly), this is a true romp of a song.
Getting Gary Barlow to take a step back for once has allowed Mark Owen to show off his not inconsiderable vocal talents (remember 'Child', anyone?) and it does the song the power of good. Barlow can sound a little overly smug on occasion, but Owen's voice is pure and without pretension on 'Shine'. If Take That can continue to produce brilliant singles, their career could last at least another ten years, no problems, and that's not just riding on the back of nostalgia.

Anche questa credo vada vista...del 16 febbraio...
Music mogul and reality show judge Simon Cowell has been accused of planting a British pop star who was once signed to his record company in the second round of American Idol.
Former Take That backing singer Tom Lowe has made it through to the TV singing contest's Hollywood stage after wowing the judges in Seattle, but he stunned Cowell at the end of his audition by saying, "I was at BMG Records in London at the same time that you were there."
Lowe was a member of British boy band North And South, who scored four minor hit singles on Cowell's record label before splitting in 1998, but Cowell claims he can't remember him.
However, a furious contestant tells the Daily Star, "It's really suspicious that they were at the same record company. Simon claims he doesn't remember him but there's a feeling among some people that this could be a fix.
"A career in the States could be worth GBP100 million so there's a lot at stake and people aren't happy."
Lowe now works in tourism in Boston and sings in a band called TOMMY AND THE TIGERS.

Poi ancora...una notarella sul dopo Brits Awards...insomma una mezza critica x i Take...
Take That You Sceptics
It's rare in the hedonistic world of pop that good guys actually win but the Brits marked the triumphant return of the boyband written off for being too boring, unfashionable and, well, nice.
